
Tribune-Star - Higher education in Vigo County in the past year made some major advancements in projects, programs and facilities that will help foster economic development and help address workforce needs both locally and statewide.

WTHI - A new addition is coming to the Terre Haute Humane Society. The organization broke ground on a new low-cost vet clinic on Tuesday. Both the city and the county partially paid for the clinic. Read more.

WTWO - At the last Vigo County Council meeting, the council took action by approving Rose-Hulman Ventures’ request for half a million dollars in ARPA funds to go toward a 14-million-dollar project ultimately relocating Rose-Hulman Ventures to campus.

Tribune-Star – Having adequate space to store bodies prior to autopsies has been a significant issue for the Vigo County Coroner’s office for many years, said Dr. Janie Myers, Vigo County coroner. Last week, the Vigo County Council took action to address the problem by approving funding for a county-owned morgue. Read more.

Tribune-Star - Mayor Duke Bennett turned his time for delivering a message to the Terre Haute City Council on Thursday evening over to Thrive West Central Executive Director Ryan Keller, who presented Thrive’s plans for using $5 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding for its housing initiative. WTWO –The Vigo County Council approved over $7 million in proposals Tuesday night, officially letting four projects move to the next stage. Read more.

Tribune-Star – The Vigo County Council on Tuesday evening debated pay rates and salaries of county employees and eventually voted to increase wages for all employees who had not been given raises in previous meetings, even though, as Councilwoman Marie Thiesz noted, the array of possibilities for such increases was “confusing.” Read more.

Tribune-Star –Thrive West Central is seeking $5 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding from the county to spur housing development. Ryan Keller, Thrive executive director, presented the proposal to the Vigo County Council on Tuesday during its “sunshine,” or nonvoting, session. Read more.

WTHI - The Vigo County Commissioners are asking for money to build a county storage building. The total cost of the project would be about $1.3 million. Read more.
